Bales Tangleation Nation & Intro to Art

This week Laura challenged us to use Bales and tangleations of Bales to create our Zentangle.

I was pretty happy with this as Bales is one of my favourite tangles.

This is how it turned out.. Quite flowy!

I've also started an online Art course on Coursera. It's free to join up and looks pretty interesting.
I'm keen to get cracking with it!

Zendala Dare 46

This week's template for the Zendala Dare reminds me of a jelly mould!

And here is what I did with it!

I used a little Quandary, some ZedbraBales, Tipple and Tripoli.

Zendala Dare 43

As it's the first Saturday of the month, Erin set us the extra challenge of using tangles that make us feel like an artist!

Well for me that means Nzeppel has to be involved... This tile I drew made me feel really proud!

Bales and Sand Swirl are other favourites of mine, and this tile really made me feel like an artist!

So here's the template for the dare:

Zinger!

So Laura's challenge this week is to use the new-old tangle "Zinger".

It's a tangle that Maria has been using for years, that finally got it's official launch in the Zentangle newsletter that went out this weekend.

I enjoyed trying out Zinger. And there were a few other tangles that I've taken the opportunity to try, as I've seen other tanglers using them in their tiles.

In the end, besides Zinger, I used Bales, Koryl, Sand Swirl, Tripoli and Crescent Moon.

Tile on Tile

Back in August 2011, Laura invited Margaret Bremner, the Enthusiastic Artist, to set this challenge.

The idea is to leave a generous border when plotting your four corner points, so as to create a tile within a tile.

Here's my string:

And here's my tile:

Tile on Tile
Tangles: Cadent; Shattuck; Warble
Bales; Purk; Florz; Fescu

I had to break out my 005 Micron to help get the needed detail on the little tile.

Pendrills

Laura set this challenge back in August 2011, to celebrate the release of the new Official Tangle, Pendrills.

This tangle was inspired by the straight & twisty tendrils of a grapevine. It's not a tangle that I'm comfortable with...yet.

I started with TanglePattern's String 024, which was drawn by Jadie Wright.

But the final result bears little relation to the string:

on a background of Bales

Still a few pages left in my tiny tangle journal... better get on with a few more!

Bunzo

At work this morning I was wondering what Laura's next challenge would bring, when I suddenly thought about the new official tangle, Bunzo, released my Rick and Maria in their recent newsletter. "I ought to try it out today... maybe I'll get chance during a meeting..."

So when I checked and saw Laura's post, I opened it quickly to see... Bunzo (Ta-da!)
I think my subconscious is two steps ahead of the rest of my brain!

When I got home I pulled out my sketch pad and green pen to practice a little before I got cracking on my tile. But I had so much fun practicing Bunzo that I got a little carried away!!!

And this is what happened:

Wahey!

Updated: Wednesday 31st October
I had sooooooo much fun with Bunzo that I carried on Bunzo-ing :D

Our office is having a bit of a facelift, so yesterday I was asked to move from my desk for a few minutes so the workmen could paint. What a perfect opportunity for some tangling! So I grabbed my notepad and Uni-Ball Eye Micro in pink, and got cracking:
Bunzo and Bales
When I came home after a stressful day I took a look through some of the other Bunzo offerings, and decided to work on a proper tile with Bunzo.

I started out with TanglePatterns String 011, shared by Yamit Fridman, and by the time I'd finished I had this!
Bunzo
with Crescent Moon, Hypnotic, and Up & Across
 A few close-ups:

There may be some more before the end of the week!!!

Happy Bunzo-ing...
