So I'm all excited to post my new tangle... my first ever tangle!
So this tangle is called Khirkee, the Hindi word for window. That's because when I look at the windows in the apartment blocks in the compound where I live, this is the pattern that I see!
It's been on my mind for the last month, and I finally deconstructed it and then put pen to paper. So here goes:

If you try using it, please leave me a comment and let me know how you got on... Or if you come up with any variations!
Happy tangling...

Margaret Bremner is a wonderful artist who always draws such wonderful Zentangles. So I was really happy when I came across her Khirkee variations. Here's the link to her
interpretation on her wonderful blog,
Enthusiastic Artist.
This is a great tangle, and I'm not usually drawn (ha ha no pun intended) to the geometric side. I think the little triangles really make this something cool tho. LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteI love it - for me anything with lines and balance is great can't wait to try it out. Thanks
ReplyDeleteFun tangle - thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat tangle, I really got to grips with drawing this one. I found it a week or so ago, drew it, then a day later forgot where on the internet I saw it and your name!!! I have spent many a happy hour or three looking for it again on any Blog, Freehand Doodles and Pinterest sites with no luck. I knew it would pop up again when I least suspected it to. Is there anyway you can add your name to your picture instructions?
ReplyDeleteHi Chrissie. Done! Thanks for the reminder. Looking forward to seeing how you've used Khirkee :D
DeleteHi Claire, I am sure I will, I think its super!!
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, I have done a tile using your tangle Khirkee, here is the a link to my Flickr account. http://www.flickr.com/photos/zchrissie/8114064054/in/photostream
ReplyDeleteI also used it, but not very successfully in this weeks Diva Challenge. I do need to do another one and will make it a bit tidier.
:D
Delete<3 your variations!
Wonderful, Claire :)
ReplyDeleteVery interesting, I like the variations. What a quirky name for your dog!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say? Crazy Labradors inspire crazy names! Lol
DeleteGreat looking tangle Claire!~!! Can't wait to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteNice to find a fellow tangled in Mumbai. Waiting to try it out.
ReplyDeleteHappy Diwali Asha!
DeleteThank you for sharing this tangle, Claire! I will try it soon.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMay I wish you a very Happy Diwali!
ReplyDeleteI woke up today to find lots of emails on my phone and quickly realised that Linda's post at TanglePatterns and your kind comments were responsible for generating many of them. I feel the love today - thank you for that!
I think Goddess Lakshmi played a role in this timing. Today is the day when Lakshmi, Goddess of Wealth, is worshipped, and all the window grills that inspired Khirkee are decorated with lights! Claire
This is a very interesting pattern Claire, looks great and I will definitely try it, tfs :)
