Khirkee... My new tangle

So I'm all excited to post my new tangle... my first ever tangle!

So this tangle is called Khirkee, the Hindi word for window. That's because when I look at the windows in the apartment blocks in the compound where I live, this is the pattern that I see!

It's been on my mind for the last month, and I finally deconstructed it and then put pen to paper. So here goes:

If you try using it, please leave me a comment and let me know how you got on... Or if you come up with any variations!

Happy tangling...

Margaret Bremner is a wonderful artist who always draws such wonderful Zentangles. So I was really happy when I came across her Khirkee variations. Here's the link to her interpretation on her wonderful blog, Enthusiastic Artist.

  1. This is a great tangle, and I'm not usually drawn (ha ha no pun intended) to the geometric side. I think the little triangles really make this something cool tho. LOVE IT!

  3. Great tangle, I really got to grips with drawing this one. I found it a week or so ago, drew it, then a day later forgot where on the internet I saw it and your name!!! I have spent many a happy hour or three looking for it again on any Blog, Freehand Doodles and Pinterest sites with no luck. I knew it would pop up again when I least suspected it to. Is there anyway you can add your name to your picture instructions?

I also used it, but not very successfully in this weeks Diva Challenge. I do need to do another one and will make it a bit tidier.

  11. May I wish you a very Happy Diwali!
I woke up today to find lots of emails on my phone and quickly realised that Linda's post at TanglePatterns and your kind comments were responsible for generating many of them. I feel the love today - thank you for that!
I think Goddess Lakshmi played a role in this timing. Today is the day when Lakshmi, Goddess of Wealth, is worshipped, and all the window grills that inspired Khirkee are decorated with lights! Claire
