Bales Tangleation Nation & Intro to Art

This week Laura challenged us to use Bales and tangleations of Bales to create our Zentangle.

I was pretty happy with this as Bales is one of my favourite tangles.

This is how it turned out.. Quite flowy!

I've also started an online Art course on Coursera. It's free to join up and looks pretty interesting.
I'm keen to get cracking with it!

Ebony and Ivory - Gelly Roll Fail

I was so excited by this Diva challenge... black and white... inspired by a recent Zentangle newsletter.

A perfect opportunity to get to grips with my new white Gelly Roll pen.

I started, on Tuesday, with some lovely Kuke.  On Wednesday I moved on to a little Crescent Moon.

And that's when my Gelly Roll just gave up...  The ink just stopped flowing.  And it won't start up again.

I don't have any other white pens, so in an act of desperation I turned to a correction pen! It didn't work out! Then I turned to a white watercolour pencil...  Nope, it just wouldn't do the job.

So I've posted this as a cry for help really... Is there any way to get the ink in my Gelly Roll flowing again? Is there any hope?

I'm looking forward to finishing this in the future, so I'll stop before I ruin it.

Where it went wrong

This week's Diva challenge is one from the Use My Tangle series, which this week celebrates Kuke by Katy Abbot.

This is a tangle that I've used before a few times and really enjoy it.

I combined it with a little Sand Swirl, Tripoli and W2.

Here are a few snapshots:

Make Schway for Aroz....

When I saw the new arrow-shaped tangle, Schway, appear in the Zentangle newsletter, I knew it would shortly make an appearance in Laura's weekly challenge.

What was less expected, was the follow-up blog post from Rick and Maria on the origins of the tangle. Fellow tangler, Scott A had published his step-out for the same tangle a year ago, except he called it Aroz. Clearly this tangle wants to be out there in the world!

Whether we call it Schway or Aroz, it's still a very powerful tangle, and one that I had some fun with...

Blind-Sighted V.2

A revisit this week to a challenge originally posted as 'Eyes Wide Shut' in January 2011, and then as 'Blind Sighted' in August 2012. Laura challenged us to draw our string with our eyes closed.

Here are links to my previous attempts, Eyes Wide Shut and Blind Sighted V.1 - and you can see the fabulous progress I've made since those early days - both in tangling and in photography!

And here is Blind Sighted V.2!
